Wise County Educational Opportunities
Public Secondary Schools
From sixteen sites, the Wise County School Division offers a
full range of K-12 programs serving more than 7000
students. The school division also operates a distance-learning
center, which serves students via satellite in other
Virginia school divisions and other states throughout
the United States. Fiber-optic interactive classrooms located
in the high schools also strengthen the quality
of course offerings by enabling students (including
adult learners) to enroll in course work delivered
from distant sites.
Vocational-technical training and support is available through the
Wise
County Career Technical Center.
The Career Technical Center offers
a wide variety of course programs for public school
students, which include design and technology,
drafting, graphic communications, and electronic
technology. The learning process includes such technological
advances as fiber optics, laser, robotics, and
aerodynamics.
Regularly scheduled programs include many
other trade skills programs common to the business
and industrial community. Various adult
evening classes are offered based on interest
and enrollment.
