Notice of Public Hearing – 09/09/14 @ 11:00 AM
The Wise County Board of Supervisors and the Wise County Public Service Authority will conduct a public hearing on Tue., Sept. 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wise County PSA Office, 5622 Industrial Park Rd, Norton, to solicit public input on a proposed Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Construction-Ready funding application to be submitted to the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development for the Wells-Boone Sewer Project. Wise County EM offers Free CERT, CPR and First Aid Course – 09/27, 10/04 & 10/11/2014
Wise County Emergency Management is offering a free CERT, CPR and First Aid Course. Upon the completion of the 20 hour course you will receive a free CERT, CPR and First Aid Certification.
The course is being held at the Wise County EOC located at the Justice Center in Wise. The course dates are Sept. 27th 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM, Oct. 4 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM and Oct. 11 8:30 AM - 11:30 PM.

Control Mosquitoes Around Your Home
The summer months are quickly approaching and mosquitoes are sure to follow. Mosquito bites can cause severe skin irritation through an allergic reaction, as well as, the transmission of certain serious diseases such as malaria, dengue fever and several forms of encephalitis. Not only can mosquitoes carry diseases which afflict humans, but they also can transmit several diseases and parasites that are very susceptible to dogs and horses. These include dog heart worms and eastern equine encephalitis (EEE). The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Virginia Dept. of Health (VDH) recommends taking steps to control mosquitoes around your home.

Wise County has joined the Emergency Communications Network's CodeRED Weather Warning System.
Now citizens can Register with CodeRED Online to receive automatic notifications via Voice, Text & Email in the event that severe weather threatens. CodeRED Weather Warning taps into the National Weather Service’s Storm Based Warnings to automatically alert affected citizens in the path of severe weather just moments after the warning has been issued.
We encourage all residents and businesses to click on the CodeRED logo and enter their contact information. At sign up you may select which types of warnings you’d like to receive. There is no direct charge to you for this service.
