METHODS OF PAYING TAXES

Tax bills may currently be paid by two (2) new methods:

• Direct Payments
• Credit Card Payments online at:
  • www.webfeepay.com
  • www.officialpayments.com.

The Direct Payment program allows you to make payments on your Wise County taxes automatically each month.  When you enroll in the Direct Payment program, we will deduct the amount you choose to be applied to your local taxes monthly.  The deduction will be on or about the 5th day of each month.  The best method in calculating your monthly payments would be to take the current year's tax amount and divide by twelve.  To sign up for the Direct Payment Plan, you first need to complete and sign an authorization form.  This may be picked-up at the Treasurer's Office or one may be mailed to you.

The Credit Card Payments

www.webfeepay.com:  Pay online or by calling 1-877-768-5054.
If making payments online, identify the State and County then follow the prompts.
When calling 1-877-768-5054, enter Zip Code then follow prompts.

www.officialpayments.com:  Pay online or by calling 1-888-272-9829. 
If making payments online as the main page comes up, you will see local payments in a small box to the left, then click local payments.  From there just follow the prompts. 
When calling 1-888-272-9829, the introductions will prompt you as to what options you may choose.  For example:  at the first prompt, if you are paying property taxes, you will choose Local Payment.  They will then ask for your jurisdiction code.  Wise County is 1009.  You may then continue entering the information required to complete the transaction. When payment is received in our office, a receipt will be mailed to you.

Tax bills can be paid by check, credit card check, money order or cashier's check, payable to the order of the Wise County Treasurer and mailed to:

After tax tickets have been mailed, tax payments may be made at participating banks, in Wise County provided total amount due is paid.  You need not have an account at the bank, nor is there a fee for this service.  Banks will accept payments until May 15th and October 15, 2011.  After that date payments should be made to the Wise County Treasurer Office.  

Area banks participating this 2011 tax year are:

• First Bank & Trust in Wise & Norton
• Miner's Exchange in Coeburn, Norton, Appalachia & St Paul
• Powell Valley National in Wise & Big Stone Gap
• New Peoples Bank in Pound, Esserville & Big Stone Gap

When paying by mail, mail the smaller portion of the ticket(s) to ensure proper credit.  The larger portion will serve as your receipt unless otherwise requested on current year taxes.
