Part-Time Litter Warden
Part-time, Starting salary depends on qualifications and experience
Wise County is accepting applications for the above through the close of business Monday, May 4. Applications are available in the County Administrator’s Office (276) 328-2321 and on the County’s website: wisecounty.org. Under the direction of the County Attorney and Chief Litter Control Officer, this position is responsible for enforcing the Litter Control Ordinances and related laws; conducting investigations; issuing citations and appearing in court; working with the KWCB Committee and law enforcement officers in the County. This position will also be responsible for assisting with the general operation of the trash detail programs administered by this department.
Required Knowledge/Skills: Litter Control laws and programs; ability to deal with the public; geography of the County; use of firearms; good physical condition; conduct investigations and present evidence in an effective manner.
Requirements: Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required); pass physical exam and criminal background check.

Student Intern Positions for G.I.S. Development
The Circuit Court Clerk's Office accepts University of Virginia's College at Wise and Mountain Empire Community College student interns to work on the Wise County Geographic Information System data development.
College credit may be obtained for working on a research demonstration project relating to Geographical Information System (GIS) applications through either UVa's College at Wise or MECC. Students should contact Circuit Court Clerk Jack Kennedy directly about the program.
The Circuit Court Clerk's Office is partnering with NASA's Langley Research Center's Digital Earth Virtual Environment and Learning Outreach Project (DEVELOP). The goal is to expand the GIS into 3-D visualization and remote sensing studies of Wise County by Wise County students.
