The Wise County Board of Supervisors met in an Organizational meeting on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 5:45 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors meeting room located in the Wise County courthouse.  The following were present:

Honorable Robert E. Robbins, Jr.
Honorable J. H. Rivers
Honorable Robert R. Adkins
Honorable Ronald L. Shortt
Honorable Virginia Meador
Honorable Dana Kilgore
Honorable Steve Bates – members of said Board and
Shannon C. Scott – County Administrator
David L. Cox – Financial Administrator
Karen T. Mullins – County Attorney
Annette Underwood – Executive Secretary

ABSENT

Fred Luntsford

IN RE:  TEMPORARY CHAIRPERSON

Administrator Scott was appointed as Temporary Chairman.

PRAYER

T. G. Branson led in prayer.

PLEDGE

All led in the pledge of allegiance to the flag.

IN RE:  ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN

Virginia Meador nominated J. H. Rivers as chairman.

Bob Adkins made a motion that nominations cease.  The motion was unanimously approved.

Supervisor Rivers was elected Chairman by acclamation.

IN RE:  ELECTION OF VICE-CHAIR

Bob Adkins nominated Dana Kilgore as Vice-chair.

J. H. Rivers made a motion that nominations cease.  The motion was unanimously approved.

Supervisor Kilgore was elected Vice-Chair by acclamation.

IN RE:  TERM OF OFFICE

A motion was made by Bob Adkins to set the term of office for the Chair and Vic-Chair for one (1) year.  Virginia Meador seconded the motion.  The motion was unanimously approved.

IN RE:  ROBERTS RULES OF ORDER AND RULES OF PROCEDURES

A motion was made by Bob Adkins, seconded by Ronnie Shortt, to adopt the Roberts Rules of Order and the Rules of Procedure as presented.  The motion was unanimously approved.

IN RE:  TIME AND DATE OF BOARD MEETINGS

A motion was made by Robby Robbins, seconded by Bob Adkins, to set the time and date of the Board meetings as follows:

• Workshop –1st Thursday of each month @ 6:00 p.m.

• Regular meeting – 2nd Thursday of each month @ 6:00 p.m.

The motion was unanimously approved.

IN RE:  TIE VOTE

A motion was made by Robby Robbins, seconded by Bob Adkins, that a tie vote means the motion fails.  The motion was unanimously approved.

ADJOURN

A motion was made by Robby Robbins, seconded by Bob Adkins, to adjourn the meeting.  The motion was unanimously approved.
