This payment was anticipated to be made after July 1 but instead was received on June 28. Not being able to disburse these funds on such short notice, and as always, any funds left at the end of the fiscal year is returned to the County. Dr. Killough asked that this money be returned to the schools and placed in the Instructional/technology category for which a plan has been developed for disbursement. There is also approximately $20,000 that is being carried over from various funds which are also being asked to be returned to the Instructional line item for the high schools science classrooms.
Matt Hurt, Technology Director for Wise County schools, provided a power point on the proposed use of the technology funds to include networking systems for nine schools, different kinds of electronic devices such as Smart Boards, Air Liners, LCD projectors and small remote controls devices for use in the classrooms.
