The Wise County Board of Supervisor met in a Workshop meeting on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 6:00 PM in the Board of Supervisor meeting room located in the Wise County courthouse. The following were present:

T. G. Branson led in prayer.

All led in the pledge of allegiance to the flag.
IN RE: LITTER CONTROL PRESENTATION
Litter Warden Greg Cross addressed the Board with an update on the Litter Control Department and the progress that has been made through the court system with fines that have been placed on littering throughout the County.
Mr. Cross provided a power point presentation on recycling. He discussed the proposed resolution on Zero Paper Waste and the impact this would have on conserving natural resources through waste prevention and paper recycling.
IN RE: PUBLIC EXPRESSION
Commonwealth Attorney Chad Dotson and Ron Elkins came before the Board to thank them for its efforts in helping the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office with its growing issues and meeting the needs for their office staff.
There being no further comments, the public expression period was closed.
IN RE: ROADS AND HIGHWAYS
Highway Resident Engineer T. G. Branson reported that work on the Kent Junction Bridge is underway with only one lane traffic and a restricted weight limit. He also reported that the Coal and Gas Road Committee will be meeting to finalize the Revenue Sharing funding.
The resolution “Watch for Children” signs on Mosswood Lane in Timberville Acres was reviewed.
Board members provided Mr. Branson with needs in their districts for VDOT review and response.
IN RE: CONSENT AGENDA
The following items were reviewed:
- Set public hearing (6:00 PM-December 7) on a proposed amendment to the Wise County Subdivision Ordinance
- Set public hearing (6:00 PM-December 7) on a request for a Special Use Permit for private cemetery on property located at 10449 Pine Camp Road in Coeburn
- Proclamation Recognizing Lauren Barnette
- Budget Amendments
