RE: PROPOSED
FY2002-03 BUDGET REVIEW
The
Board reviewed and discussed the proposed budget cuts as
presented by Administrator Sealover.
Different avenues of possible revenue sources were
discussed which included a proposed tax increase.
Mr.
Sealover gave a brief overview of the County's present expenses
and revenues noting that the revenue sources are declining.
Mr.
Sealover reported that he had met with the Constitutional
Officers regarding their proposed budgets.
He gave to them approximately $156,000 less than
what they requested and asked that they appeal to the Board
for further funding if needed.
The
different events and organizations to receive hotel/motel
tax money was reviewed and discussed.
It was
noted that there was no money in the proposed budget for
the BSG annexation.
If funds are needed, it will come out of fund balance.
Miscellaneous
cuts and technical changes in the proposed budget were reviewed.
There
was some discussion on the Civil Defense budget, the functions
of that department and the need to possibly restructure
that department.
The
Enterprise budget was reviewed with notations on certain
items of concern.
Funding
for the Sheriff's vehicles were discussed with anticipated
revenues from the different ordinances to be imposed by
the Sheriff's Department to provide funding for most of
that cost.
There
being no further discussion, the meeting adjourned at 8:45
p.m.
