RE: BUDGET
DISCUSSION
Chairman
Stallard stated that the purpose of this meeting is for
discussion of the proposed budget and to set the tax rate
for FY 2001-2002.
It
was noted that four (4) scenarios of the proposed FY 2001-2002
budget has been presented to each Board member for information
and a guide in setting a tax rate.
There
was a general discussion on the County revenues and the
funding needs for the schools.
Chairman
Stallard stated that it is his understanding that the Board
can give the School Board between $600,000 to $800,000 without
raising taxes.
Administrator
Scott noted that he had received an informal request from
the School Board for an amount of $1.3 million.
If less money is given by the County, the School
Board will have to make cuts accordingly.
After
further discussion, a motion was made by Edgar Mullins to
leave the tax rate at 52 cents.
Virginia Meador seconded the motion.
The motion was unanimously approved.
