Wise County Board of Supervisors met in a Special Called Meeting
on May 31, 2000, at 6:00 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors
Meeting Room located in the Wise County Courthouse .

Adkins stated that this Special Meeting has been called
by two members of the Board of Supervisors for the purpose
of hearing the Wise County School Board's proposed budget
for FY 2000/01.
IN
RE: SCHOOL
BOARD BUDGET
REVIEW
Superintendent
of Public Schools Dr. Basham thanked the Board for its efforts
in meeting with them and the cooperative effort that is
being made to look after the children in Wise County. He spoke briefly on the School Board's six year plan, the three
school building projects now in progress, and the additional
art and music teachers that have been planned for in the
School Board's FY
2000/01 budget for the different schools.
Dr.
Basham reviewed the general portion of the budget of $145,000
for hospitalization, art and music teachers, salary increases
of 3.25% for professional personnel and 4.5% for classified
and support personnel.
He reviewed and explained the revenues, debt service,
capital outlay by line item, and expenditures for all the
schools.
Greg
Perry presented a detailed review by line item of the proposed
school operating budget for an amount of $52.3 million with
the school debt service of $612,000, and the school capital
outlay of $6.9 million for a total of $59, 874,000.
There
being no further comments, a motion was made by Donnie Dowell,
seconded by Jeff Salyers, to adjourn the meeting.
The motion was unanimously approved.
