Field crews from the Wise County GIS Dept will be conducting address verification and hand delivery of readdresses in the next few weeks. GIS Employees will have identification and will be asking for the resident addresses and phone numbers. State law requires your 911 address number to be posted on your home and your driveway. If you have questions please call 328-7110.

Wise County Residents may verify their 911 address at www.wisecounty.org/911 . PO Box customers are urged to visit this website to receive their new 911 addresses. Only residents with Letters in their addresses or who live on a newly named road will be changed. 911 address verification aids in the response time during an emergency. The Wise County GIS department is urging residents to view the online map and verify the location of their home and address.

Residents which use the St Paul and Pound Zip Code and receive mail on the route will be receiving their new 911 addresses in May. The remaining zip codes of Coeburn, Wise, and Big Stone Gap will be released summer of 2008. Residents which receive mail at Post Office Boxes will be notified in the next 6 months as well.

Wise County will be releasing 911 Readdresses beginning in April 2008. Residents which use the Norton or Appalachia Zip Code will be receiving their new 911 addresses in April. Only addresses that are not Emergency Number Standard will be readdressed. The remaining zip codes will be released within the next six months.
Will Your Address Change?
The new 911 addresses cannot be used as official addresses until you receive a letter from the United States Post Office or the Wise County GIS office. Norton and Appalachia letters will go out in April. The remaining zip codes will go out between April and October 2008.
